The capital of Silla was Gyeongju. A lot of tombs are in Gyeongju. Most of the tombs are protected by the Silla national park in Gyeongju. One tomb in Silla has the golden crown from Silla and it is called Chun ma Chong. There is something called the Chum Sung Dae which Silla made for looking at stars. In the Gyeongju Museum, there is a huge brown bell which is related to a legend.
Silla believed in Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism and Korean shamanism. Buddhism was brought from China. Buddhism believes Buddha was first get enlightment. There is a Buddha era which people followed Buddha's teachings. Most of the people who lived in Silla believed in Buddhism. Buddhism was adopted by Silla in 527 by King Beopheung. In the Seokguram there is a big statue of Buddha praying. There is a grand temple in Gyeongju called the Bul-guk-sa temple. They also liked to play Taekwondo. The language silla people used was traditional chinese. Since it was so hard they made a new language called Edu. Which was much easier compared to traditional chinese. There was more than one temple in Gyeongju. Bong-duk-sa, Bu-suk-sa, and etc. After Silla made Chum-sung-dae, astrology developed. When people made the big brown bell, melting iron is to shapes developed. Silla also made movable writing so they can make books faster. Lastly they made a clock that uses the sun. |
